voice of the lord

We will post on this blog what the Lord is sharing with us as a team.

Each of us hears differently from God because He has given each of us different gifts and abilities. When we bring together what God has given us individually, it creates a beautiful clear picture of God’s hearts and His instructions and plans for us corporately.

April 13, 2020      Do we have a Stagnant Heart?

The entire world is experiencing dramatic changes in our personal lives as we are being isolated and slowed down. Most people do not like change – it is unsettling. We like the way we do things, we like knowing what to expect day after day.  We need to understand God is allowing this slowing down and the changes to expose what is truly in our hearts.

Psalm 16:2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD (Yahweh), "You are my Lord (Adonai), My goodness is nothing apart from You."

David was talking to his soul- his mind, will, and emotions, telling himself that he had no good in himself, it only comes from God.  That is why we must walk in all of GOD’S WAYS, and not our ways.  Our soul needs a Lord and a master to guard and transform our souls.

Zephaniah 1:12  It will come about at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And I will punish the men Who are stagnant in spirit, Who say in their hearts, 'The LORD will not do good or evil!'

The word stagnant means to be thickened or congealed – hard hearted and stuck in our ways.
It also means not flowing, motionless, not active.

When change comes into our environment, the areas where our hearts are stagnant and not fully the Lord’s will be exposed.  They will either cause us to be hard hearted or not able to move or do anything.

Do you find yourself acting out in anger towards those around you?  Are you having a hard time getting up off the sofa to do anything?  We have more time to spend reading and studying God’s word, but do we?  We have more time and motivation to spend praying to God, but do we?

These are signs of a stagnant heart.  If any of these are evident in out lives, we must repent and turn from our stagnant ways.
