Day 26 - Psalm 119:113-116 - samek

1/27/2020

January 27
(113)  I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law.  (114)  You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.  (115)  Depart from me, you evildoers, For I will keep the commandments of my God!  (116)  Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.
Enero 27    Salmo 119:113-116
“Aborrezco a los hombres hipócritas; Mas amo tu ley. Mi escondedero y mi escudo eres tú; En tu palabra he esperado. Apartaos de mí, malignos, Pues yo guardaré los mandamientos de mi Dios. Susténtame conforme a tu palabra, y viviré; Y no quede yo avergonzado de mi esperanza.”

The letter SAMECH is a symbol of support and protection. This is inferred by its all-encompassing shape, and asserted by its meaning: ‘support’.

The Hebrew Letter for this section is a Samech. It is the only letter that is totally enclosed. This signifies GOD’S SURROUNDING PERIMETER OF PROTECTION, which is available to everyone who believes in Him. But unfortunately we tend to be double minded at time as our verses talk about. We read about God’s ways and say, “Yes, we want to walk in them.” But then we turn around and start walking in what looks right to us. When we truly humble ourselves before God and His Ways, and put our HOPE in Him, He will be our HIDING PLACE and our SHIELD. (verse 114)

We must be careful to let God enclose us with his Love, and to not enclose ourselves with walls we hide behind. SAMECH spelled backwards is Kamas which means concealed or stored away. When we lack faith in God’s ability to surround us with His protection, our fears and in securities cause us to hide from God and others behind the walls we erect.

I urge you to look at the vision God gave us at the beginning of this fast. It is posted at the beginning of this blog under the instructions. In the vision there were 4 pillars, with banners hung from pillar to pillar, forming a boundary, a perimeter for us to abide within. These banners are called LOVE, PEACE, JOY, and KINDNESS. God spoke to us and said, “Stay within these boundaries. I have put a banner over you. Remain and Abide.”

May Psalm 119:116 be our cry to God this day, “Uphold (samech) me according to Your Word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope.”

God wants to protect us by hiding us under his shadow ( Ps. 91:1) He wants to defend us, he is our shield and he wants to sustain us and all by his word which is his guidance for us. To go out of the boundary of his word is to be exposed to the enemy !

We need to submit ourselves to his protection.
* James 4: 8 ' Come near to God and he will come near to you wash your hands, you sinners and purify your hearts, you double-minded. '

* James 1:7 ' That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; v8, ' he is a double - minded man, unstable on all he does.'

It is scary that to be double minded is to be without God's provision!!

Lord, help us not to take this warning lightly. Help us to be faithful in doing your word daily. Help us to love your law, wait for your word in time of need, observe your commandments so that we may live. Your word keeps us safe. Amen🙏
