Wednesday, Oct. 28th Pray for Arts/Entertainment 1 Thessalonians 4:7, Psalm 149:3
Good morning Father, today we pray for Historic Virginia. This state is the state that held the settlement of Jamestown in 1607 and is the home of the original capital of the thirteen colonies. We pray for a land that was essential to the founding fathers. Father, a state known for fights with Indians and slave trade, this state led in all aspects of setting the path for future discord. We stand today on an altar, that doorway, invited in, not only the positive side of America but also a dark gateway of its past. The internal struggles of this nation causes us to repent for the wrongs that were committed in the past and to rejoice over the progress; to form a nation of people who would stand together in a time of crisis. Father, we look to you to save this state and its leaders from divisive politics and take a role in motivating others to stand for justice, peace and the American way. We pray for the church leaders that have set a pattern for prayer to begin to pray for our nation. We concentrate our efforts no longer on the wrong but to begin to focus on the right. The right to worship You without the fear of government interference. The right to live in peace and harmony with all kindred and tribes. The right to declare our freedoms, only limited by the word of God, that dictates that we honor our father and mother and to love our neighbors as ourselves. The right to not impose the views of the masses on the heart of few. The right to assemble together in our places of worship without fear of retaliation. The right to stand for a nation that needs guidance and deliverance in a crucial time of desperation. The right to say we have sinned and lost our way. Father, we are reminded of the story of the prodigal son and in all our wanderings we lost our way but we know in the Father's house, there is provision. We recognize we have sinned and the necessity as a nation to come home to a Father that is waiting on our return. To come to a place where a Father recognizes our true worth, no matter how far we have fallen. Father, today we know our country can be restored to the heart of the Father. We know forgiveness and redemption is here if we only ask. We know and recognize that we can begin down the right path but first we must recognize what depths we have fallen to. We pray we see the light of Your Glory and come to understand the purpose You have created us for. Father, we were created for worship. You are here Father standing in our midst because you are a way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper and a light in all the darkness. We can recognize that is who You are. We must take from that because we were created in your image, that we too are lights in the darkness that surround America today. So we say let our light shine from the hill tops of the Appalachian Mountains, to the shores of Virginia Beach. Let our light shine in opposition of the winds of fear, suicide and terror that knock on the hearts of those that don't know You. Let us make a way to come back to lead others from depression, suicide and oppression that even mocks the heart of Your children in the church. Let us throw off the bonds of tyranny and let the lamp of warning shine brightly in the night. One if by land two if by sea, let a signal be given that the light of this nation still shines brightly to lead a revolution against enemies seen and unseen. Father hear our cry in the name of Jesus..amen
