Friday, Oct. 9th: Pray 2 Kings 19:14-19 over your State and Nation (Hezekiah’s Prayer)
Good morning Holy Spirit. Another day we face with enthusiasm as we seek Your face this morning. Forgive us for not recognizing your presence all around us each day. Father, today we pray for the state of Nebraska. The state motto is "equality before the Law". Father, we pray that there is true equality in the heart of the leaders in this state. We pray that the state representatives will be equal in its dealing with all of your children. We pray for equal rights for the children, widows and orphans. We pray the federal leaders will be just and consistent in their dealings throughout and lead America to a state of equality as well. As we pray for Nebraska we are ever so mindful of the very nature of what this country was established for, the belief that a nation could have freedom OF religion not FROM religion. That gave opportunity to those who had, as well as those who did not have. How the rich and poor came in their huddle masses to a place that promised a new opportunity to anyone who desired a change. So Father let the winds of change begin to blow in America like a category 5 hurricane. Let swift change come to a nation in which its very foundation is crying for a new start. Let the winds blow the past hurts and unforgiveness away. Let the winds blow the roof off of glass ceilings that have restricted many in the past. Let the winds blow that which is not stable and the houses that were not established on solid rock be blown away. Father, today as we pray for our nation, let us not look only to the past, but let us also look forward for the next generation. Let the heart of our children and our children's children be drawn toward the things of God. Let us no longer have a form of religion that lacks the power but a fulfillment of the Spirit of a living God blowing across the earth reforming and reshaping the thoughts of all within the borders. Let it be once again that You show yourself real in a nation that is destined to lead, if we repent and that the lampstand, we once held brightly, will again glow with intensity to show the way to the lost, to the rejected, to the wounded, and to those who have a desire for the equality that can only be found by loving our neighbor as ourselves. Today let us remember, as we think of judging others, the loving words of Jesus to the accusers of the woman caught in the act of adultery. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Today in the name of Jesus, we once again speak equality to the United States. We seal these petitions in the name of Jesus.. Amen.
